Call for abstracts is now open!
The Medical Council of New Zealand
is excited to host the virtual 2021 Australian and New Zealand
Prevocational Medical Education Forum on 18 and 19 October.
This annual trans-Tasman conference
will be opened by New Zealand’s Director-General of Health, Dr Ashley
Bloomfield. Our main theme ‘Travelling forward together – He waka eke
noa’ acknowledges that all of us involved in medical education and
training are in this waka together. Follow us on twitter @prevoc2021 for updates!
A number of topical issues will be discussed under three key themes:
- Transitions and innovations
- Health equity and cultural safety
- Professionalism and wellbeing.
There will be a mixture of
live-streamed sessions and Q&A, panel sessions and workshops all
delivered through an advanced and easy to use virtual platform. Sessions
will be recorded and available to participants to view On-Demand for 90
days after the end of the Forum.
- Dr Jason Frank (Canada), a
clinician-educator whose research interests include competency-based
education, faculty development, program evaluation and curriculum
development.
- Dr Rhys Jones (Aotearoa/New
Zealand), a public health physician whose research focuses on ethnic
inequalities and indigenous health in health professional education.
- Professor Trudie Roberts (UK),
the Immediate Past President of the Association of Medical Education in
Europe who will speak on issues to do with professionalism and
integrity.
We welcome everyone involved and
interested in medical education to attend this conference and invite you
to submit an abstract. The ANZPMEF aims to facilitate collaborative
discussions on medical education and provide a platform to share the
challenges and successes of prevocational medical education. This is an
opportunity to present your own research and innovations, or to be
involved in topical and informative discussions.

Closing date for submission of abstracts – 30 June
Notification of acceptance / decline – 30 July
